This photo depicts, in a sense, Thai massage. The therapist that uses good body mechanics, which this is not not true Thai, for themselves, uses that control to deliver an excellent healthy massage for the client and somatic control in touch, feeling throughout the session is a professional.

Just as massage today is done all around the world it has origins in several cultures. The definition of Massage is somewhat broader than in past times..

It appeared in European and American writings around 1875..brferred to as using the hands to manipulate the soft tissue. .However, Massage goes back thousands of years to the Romans and the Greeks., for example. Even carvings on cave dwellings depict touch as one of the oldest an most fundamental ways humans communicate with each other, and care for those injured or ill.

Shamans, the Polynesians have used massage under various names..References to massage to back to acient times. Asia, the Sandwich Islands, Europe indeed universally massage can be dated and followed thousands of years in history…Little was written about massage during the Middle Ages, but kings and emperors enjoyed the benefits as did warriors back from battle.

In Oriental and Euopean cultures massage is received in a hospital setting given by trained staff..Hopefully In the United States where western medicine has prevailed taking the basic components from nature and synthesizing them to work quickly and harshly with side effects because of the rapidity mostly of drugs as opposed to a cumulative lifestyle of prevention and maintainence.

There is a new paradigm now that is people want to be and to have a sense of well being that comes with taking control of your mental, emotional, spiritual and last but certainlly not least physical health..

Life is maintained not symptomized, but what causes dis-ease at the very inception of that is what people want to address now..

The hectic pace of modern life and the continuous stress to meet deadlines can wreak havoc on your mind and body. This is where one of the oldest healing arts of massage comes to your rescue. A blend of science and art, massage therapy provides a relaxing experience by hand strokes on the body to rejuvenate the mind and body and eliminate stress. The scientific side of massage therapy lies in the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body like muscles, skin, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and membranes – to gain a therapeutic response. Today, there are plenty of gay massage therapist websites that provide comprehensive information about their services and massage therapy pictures.

One of the most popular variety of alternative medicine, massage therapy has proven beneficial for many chronic conditions, including back pain, arthritis, high blood pressure, diabetes, infertility, smoking cessation, depression, and more. On your first massage session, your gay massage therapist will require you to provide him some general information about your health and ailments (if any). Remember that the gay massage therapist will keep you fully draped through your session except for the area being worked on. Using oil, lotion or powder to ease friction on the skin, your gay massage therapist will start massaging gently to calm your nervous system. Gradually, your gay massage therapist works more deeply into the tissues and addresses specific areas. Refer to the massage therapy pictures provided by your therapist to get an idea of different techniques used. Massage therapy usually lasts one hour. After the massage, most people experience freedom from pain and aches. In addition, many people experience an increase in energy that can last for days.

Traditional healthcare systems around the world recognize massage therapy as a holistic and natural healing method for a variety of health issues. In fact, physicians and physiotherapists today recommend their patients to receive massages for certain health conditions and many health insurance plans support the use of registered gay massage therapists. In short, massage therapy has become an important part of general health care for many people living in today’s stressful world.

An individual may be at risk to develop mesothelioma if he or she was exposed to asbestos in the workplace or at home. Mesothelioma is caused by exposure to asbestos and the inhalation of asbestos particles. In most cases, mesothelioma symptoms will not appear in an individual exposed to asbestos until many years after the exposure has occurred. Those with a past asbestos exposure history experiencing symptoms should consult a physician with experience in accurately diagnosing mesothelioma. The earlier mesothelioma is diagnosed, the more likely it is to be caught at an early stage. At earlier stages of mesothelioma progression, more treatment options are available and oftentimes a better prognosis is given.

The upper body, or torso is not the only anatomical region that gives, internally, support to our functions and health. This is a major area of course, but remember nothing leaves off and resumes elsewhere, it is a connective process and so every area is important as it relates to others.

Note: A great idea to understand your personal blood pressure and where you are on a consistent basis, is not simply at a visit to the doctor’s. (We have portable blood pressure self inflating monitors that go around the wrist), is to take your blood pressure even before arising. Especially if you have had some continued stress and feel heart palpitations. Start to gage your personal pressure and how it may fluctuate, or stay the same under different circumstances. In the mornings, first thing, it should be low. You have supposedly had a wonderful rested night’s sleep and it should be reflected in the reading.

We know massage goes back thousands of years world wide, actually the first medical text was in China and written by the “Yellow Emperor.”

With the advent of pharmaceuticals and physical therapy massage waned, but revived in the 60′s and 70′s culture. What was once a part of the medical profession here and in other countries largely became stigmatized.

But with science and facts, resurged even more strongly and respected for the physical, emotional and well-being benefits that it is.

Just as massage today is done all around the world it has origins in several cultures. The definition of Massage is somewhat broader than in past times..

The Theory of Five Elements

We are organic, electrical, impulse neurological, feeling entities, beings.

The center, this and other mystical, real practices, is that they are grounded in the natural forces of nature. It is we who have transgressed and damaged what was working in unison with ourselves and the world in which we have made home.

The concept is to work as nature works, effortless and yes, naturally.

The mechanical clock mechanism of the Newtonian physics age has been disproved and we are not robots as it were. The world is alive and hopefully still well enough to heal itself if we as it’s custodians assist and respect it.

There is not duality, opposites, this is misunderstood. But degrees of the same that when observed complement one another because one could not exist without the other. Without dark how could we know what light is.

Similar to the theory of yin-yang, the theory of five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal and water) was an ancient philosophical concept used to explain the composition and phenomena of the physical universe. In traditional Chinese medicinethe theory of five elements is used to interpret the relationship between the physiology and pathology of the human body and the natural environment. According to the theory, the five elements are in constant move and change, and the interdependence and mutual restraint of the five elements explain the complex connection between material objects as well as the unity between the human body and the natural world.

In traditional Chinese medicine, the visceral organs, as well as other organs and tissues, have similar properties to the five elements; they interact physiologically and pathologically as the five elements do. Through similarity comparison, different phenomena are attributed to the categories of the five elements. Based on the characteristics, forms, and functions of different phenomena, the complex links between physiology and pathology as well as the interconnection between the human body and the natural world are explained.

The five elements emerged from an observation of the various groups of dynamic processes, functions and characteristics observed in the natural world. The aspects involved in each of the five elements are follows:

Fire: draught, heat, flaring, ascendance, movement, etc.

Wood: germination, extension, softness, harmony, flexibility, etc.

Metal: strength, firmness, killing, cutting, cleaning up, etc.

Earth: growing, changing, nourishing, producing, etc.

Water: moisture, cold, descending, flowing, etc.

The following table shows the categorization of phenomena according to the five elements:

Between the five elements there exists close relationships that can be classified as mutual promoting and mutual restraining under physiological conditions, and mutual encroaching and mutual violating under pathological conditions. By mutually promoting and restraining, functions of the various systems are coordinated and homeostasis maintained. By encroaching and violating, pathological changes can be explained and complications predicted.

The order of mutual promoting among the five elements is that wood promotes fire, fire promotes earth, earth promotes metal, metal promotes water, and promotes generates wood. In this way each of the five elements has this type of mutual promoting relationship with the other, thus promoting is circular and endless. According to the order of mutual restraining, however, wood restrains earth, metal restrains wood, etc. Each of the five elements also shares this restraining relationship with the other. Mutual promoting and mutual restraining are two aspects that cannot be separated. If there is no promoting, then there is no birth and growth. If there is no restraining, then there is no change and development for maintaining normal harmonious relations. Thus the movement and change of all things exists through their mutual promoting and restraining relationships. These relationships are the basis of the circulation of natural elements.

Encroaching and violating are the pathological conditions of the normal mutual promoting and restraining relationships. Encroaching denotes that the restraining of one of the five elements to another surpasses the normal level, while violating means that one of the five elements restrains the other opposite to the normal mutual restraining order.

Foods that are the best of course, are whole foods, as natural as they come. With very little processing, ideally, none.

Cooked if necessary tender firm. Including the colors of the rainbow, all have properties to offer that are naturally what our bodies need. Taking into consideration any allergies to specific foods that may not agree with us, even make us critically ill. There are exceptions in nature always. To some degree.

Dark greens should always be a given. There are so many attributes to the chlorophyll of dark greens.

We are cognizant of the health and lifestyle choices we’re making, food being a part of that. Instead of running out for that fast food we at least think about the ingredients of what and how it is prepared. Food Chains recognize this catering to the shift. What we put inside our digestive systems is vital to our overall feeling of health and actually being healthy.

The Agricultural Research Service has found many benefits of lactic acid bacteria (the principle agent responsible for fermentation) in its various research projects, but the agency rarely has translated the findings into practical applications for human health.

The time is long overdue to recognize something known, but forgotten: the health benefits of fermented foods. The recognition should encourage us to add health-promoting fermented foods to our daily diet. At present, probiotics is not a familiar term to many people. It will become more familiar. Digested in sufficient amounts, probiotics can combat pathogenic microbes and bestow health benefits. Probiotic foods are fermented foods. Perhaps the best recognized ones are yogurt and sauerkraut. Many more exist.

In recent years, the sales of probiotic supplements as well as probiotic foods have risen meteorically in the United States. By 2003, sales were nearly $13 million annually, with a spectacular 14% increase in yearly sales. In terms of importance in food-product formulations, probiotics rose from 10th place in 2000 to 5th place by 2005.

The rising incidence of pathogenic contamination in the food supply results from many factors, including a radical transformation of agriculture and the misuse, overuse, and growing ineffectiveness of antibiotics. The issue is only part of a larger one, concerning pathogenic contamination of the environment.

Antimicrobials have been available for a long time. But the growing problem of environmental contamination has generated a new industry. The goal is to make the environment germ free, an impossible task and an unwise objective. In attempting to make the environment germ free, both the beneficial as well as the pathogenic microorganisms are destroyed. Probiotics are a wiser choice, in using beneficial microorganisms to suppress and kill the pathogens. The immune system can be kept healthy and strong by probiotics.
the complexity of whole food nutrition and how this cannot be duplicated in the lab with vitamin isolates: “Since whole food ingredients are natural, they contain a host of nutrients that exist within a complex. A food complex includes not only vitamins and minerals, but also many cofactors (helper nutrients) that are found in nature’s foods as a result of the evolutionary process.”

Cofactors and food complexes therefore cannot be made in a laboratory nor can they be duplicated by scientists. And many nutritional doctors and researchers agree that cofactors are often more valuable than vitamins and minerals, and that food cannot be duplicated due to its complexity, dynamism, and energy.

Cofactors within nature’s foods (also found in whole food supplements) include, but are not limited to: vitamins, minerals, terpenes, trace mineral activators, enzymes, co-enzymes, chlorophyll, lipids, essential fatty acids, fiber, carotenoids, antioxidants, flavonoids, pigments, amino acids, whole proteins, and more.

The human organism is biologically suited to ingest and utilize nature’s whole foods for its sustenance and the optimal functioning of cells, and for the processes of healing and prevention. Because synthetic vitamin and mineral pills are merely comprised of isolated chemicals, the body often regards these as foreign invaders. Therefore, some vitamin, mineral, and amino acid synthetic supplements can produce toxic side effects ranging from skin itching and flushing (niacin, for example) to liver impairment (vitamin A palmitate).

The ingredients within foods operate on a system of synergism; they work as “teams” to feed cells. The interwoven, interrelated, and complementary functions of food particles represent some of nature’s most wonderful properties of synergistic power and function.

Dietary supplements created from whole foods provide a more complex source of nutrition than isolated supplements created in a lab. So, what happens when we incorporate a probiotic fermentation process to whole food nutritional ingredients? You may have heard of Captain Cook’s remedy for scurvy on his ships. Due to the lack of fresh produce on long voyages, he would require all his sailors to eat sauerkraut, which is fermented cabbage. Scurvy is caused by a vitamin C deficiency; by fermenting cabbage, the Vitamin C levels of the cabbage are increased.

The power of the fermentation and culturing process is due to the additional nutrients that are created by the activated bacteria. By culturing live, whole foods in probiotics (healthy, beneficial, naturally occurring bacteria), a synergy of health-promoting compounds is created. Those compounds produce much greater results than the sum of the individual whole food nutritional ingredients.

While the degeneration process inherent in aging is inevitable, the visible and internal effects of aging can be significantly reduced with the use of natural supplements. By supplementing with certain nutrients, one can experience a sense of greater well-being and youthfulness, increased quality of life, and an extended lifespan.

The most effective utilization of supplements requires a foundation of proper diet, lifestyle, and exercise. No supplement can compensate for deficiencies in these areas. A healthy diet consisting of good quality whole foods–proteins, vegetables, grains, and fruits–and excluding sugar and allergenic foods is fundamental. Research has shown that individuals with a lean body mass (calorie restricted diet) have a significantly longer lifespan.

Anti-oxidants such as glutathione scavenge free radicals and promote detoxification via the liver. Free radicals are among the top contributing factors in aging. They are known to accelerate the aging process by damaging cells through oxidation. Foods high in anti-oxidants include blueberries, green and yellow vegetables, and green tea.

Other anti-oxidant nutrients include alpha lipoic acid, grape seed extract, vitamin C, and coenzyme Q10, which powers the cell’s vital energy, and protects and supports the heart.

Ribonucleic acid (RNA) is important for healthy aging as it supports transcription of DNA and thus proper cell replication. Cells are the fundamental unit of every living thing. Healthy cell structure and replication are crucial for vibrant aging. RNA, extracted from brewer’s yeast, has been shown to stabilize cell processes, and increase synapse function as well as short-term memory. For increased brain function or memory, also consider acetyl-L-carnitine, vinpocetine, phosphatidylserine (PS) or gingko biloba.

Essential fatty acids (EFAs) are important because they support the integrity of the cell structure. They feed the brain, which is 60% fat. EFAs play a major role in reducing joint or other inflammation, and can prevent plaque buildup in arteries. Omega 3 fatty acids (EPA, DHA) found in fish oils and flax seed are deficient in the typical American diet.

EFAs also nurture and tonify the skin. Another vital skin supplement is hyalauronic acid, which helps retain moisture, regenerate skin elasticity, and lubricate arthritic joints. Hyalauronic acid can be taken internally or applied topically as a cream.

Herbs effective for anti-aging include ginseng, maca, and tribulus. These adaptagenic herbs work by supporting the immune system to reduce stress, tension, and enhance endurance, stamina, and vitality. Vision health is supported by bilberry, an herb containing phytochemicals that nourish the eyes and enhance visual function.

Amino acids are the building blocks of protein, and are fundamental for longevity. The amino acid L-Carnosine has been shown in clinical studies to protect against age-related degradation of protein, extending cellular lifespan. L-Carnitine can protect the heart and liver, and aid in weight loss by increasing fat metabolism. Because muscle strength and mass deteriorate as we age, L-Creatine can also be helpful. L-Phenylalanine promotes vitality and alertness and can decrease pain.

Enzymes are crucial to increase absorption of vitamins, minerals, protein, fats and carbohydrates. Many people lose the ability to properly assimilate nutrients as they age. A supplement containing pancreatin (or vegetable enzymes if vegetarian) can spark those digestive juices. Because most people have difficulty fully digesting or breaking down proteins, protease is especially important as well.

Aging need not be a discouraging process. The wisdom we acquire as we grow older can help sustain a fulfilling life. With supplemental support, we can reduce pain, fatigue, and inflammation, while increasing mental and visual acuity, physical vitality, stamina and an overall sense of joy.

Yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, tamari, miso, and many other beneficial Fermented Foods have been enjoyed for centuries and help keep our bodies healthy

Nutritional Healing, Roots of the Crisis

Everything in nature has been synthesized, modified to work faster.

All we owe progress to has come from observing nature and how it heals and survives, no lives. The earth is alive, at it’s core, natural internal combustion, hence our combustion engine. Bridges are built after the tactile strength of spider webs.

There is still so much undiscovered. Why in the world would something be that there is not a use for in sustaining life. If not directly. then in the indirect/direct chain that is ecology.

There was not alternative medicine, it was healing medicine, it was what was handed down through ages. And it worked. It healed, sustained gave vitality.

The underlying concepts of alternative medicine are not new. They represent a return to the principles that have been part of human understanding of health and disease for thousands of years. Over the centuries, medical wisdom evolved within a framework which linked health to a state of harmony or balance, and disease to a state of disharmony or imbalance, and took into account the factors that contributed to both.

“The genius of the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates, the father of Western medicine, was not in the drugs he used or his diagnostic skills,” points out Dr. John R. Lee, M.D. of Sebastopol, California, “but in his insight that the elements which were needed to produce and maintain health were natural, and that they included hygiene, a calm balanced mental state, proper diet, a sound work and home environment, and physical conditioning. In addition, he recognized the life forces that pervade all of nature, and which have multiple expressions—some known, some theorized, and many unknown. He taught that health depended upon living in harmony with these forces.” Recognition of these life forces is also vital to Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic medicine from India.

A Dangerous Detour

In the mid-nineteenth century, following the discovery of disease-causing microbes, a departure from this philosophy of health occurred due to rival theories concerning the cause of disease. One theory was that infecting microbes called germs (viruses, bacteria and fungi) were the cause of illness. The opposing theory maintained that these microbes only became infectious if conditions inside the body were right for them. According to this theory, by keeping the internal environment of the body healthy, these potential agents of infection will remain dormant.

When the germ theory of disease became dominant, the birth of contemporary medicine, with its emphasis on infectious causes of diseases rather than physiologic balance or harmony, occurred. This provided medical science with the opportunity to greatly expand its role in the treatment of illness. This was followed by the rapid development of microscopy, bacterial cultures, vaccines, x-ray, and in the 1930s the discovery of antibacterial drugs such as penicillin and sulfa drugs. However, the more that medical science embraced the germ theory of disease, the more it also superseded the individual’s role in his or her own health.

The Purpose of Medicine: War or Repair?

The thrust of 20th century medicine can be described by the metaphor of war. Disease is considered an invasion by an enemy and treatment is aimed at developing “magic bullets” in the form of drugs and vaccines to eliminate that enemy. We have seen, for example, a failed “war on cancer,” a proliferation of antibiotics, and a growing number of surgical procedures, cell-killing radiation treatments, and chemical medications (such as chemotherapy), all of which do harm to the body, in one form or another, in their attempts to restore health. Lost in this approach is the concept of repairing the imbalances which allow the illnesses to occur in the first place. Medical science has become one-sided in its focus, increasingly losing sight of the whole person in its attempt to treat the body’s individual parts.

Because the emphasis of conventional medicine remains upon war and not repair, it has led to the organization of medical schools with their various departments, such as cardiology, neurology, dermatology, orthopedics, psychiatry. This forces students to focus their study on one organ system at a time, as if each bodily organ functioned independently of all the others. This diverts attention away from the intrinsic interrelatedness of all parts of our body and the complex dynamism of life forces. It’s no wonder that our “modern” doctors understand so little of holistic concepts of health.

Why Are We Ill?

Health is far more than the absence of disease. When we are healthy all our bodily systems and functions are harmoniously balanced and integrated with each other, and we are also in balance with our environment. In this state of equilibrium our defense mechanisms and our immune system can efficiently handle most of the hazards that life presents, whether these are pathogenic (disease-causing) organisms, toxic substances, or stress factors of various kinds.

Foundations of Health

According to Dr. Leon Chaitow, N.D., D.O. of London, England, positive health depends upon three factors, which are interconnected. The first of these is the body’s structural system, including all of the muscles, bones, ligaments, nerves, blood vessels and organs and their functions. The second factor is the body’s biochemical process, which involve the absorption and utilization of nutrients, and the elimination of wastes, along with the complicated biochemical relationships which are the key to cellular function and health. The third factor comprises the mind and emotions, as well as the spiritual dimension of each person. “When there is a balanced, energetic interplay between these three components we have health,” Dr. Chaitow says. “But when imbalances exist within any of these factors, or in their relationships with each other, ill-health occurs.

Homeostasis

In a state of health, if we cut ourselves, we heal. If we are bruised, strained, or suffer a broken bone, healing starts immediately. If we are exposed to infection our immune system deals with it. These examples are illustrations of the body’s natural tendency towards repairing itself. This tendency is known as homeostasis, the maintenance of the body’s internal organs and defenses to compensate for external health hazards.

When homeostasis is called into play to handle a “crisis,” its activity is usually experienced as “symptoms.” For example, when you exposed to an infection your body will mount an aggressive defensive response which might result in fever. Or, should you injure yourself, the healing process which starts immediately might involve inflammation and swelling of the traumatized area. In other words, under normal conditions, the body will attempt to heal itself without help, and the symptoms produced will indicate what sort of healing process is going on. Unfortunately, many people, including all to many physicians, rather than respecting these homeostatic processes and simply waiting for them to finish their tasks, will actively try to suppress the symptoms of self-repair, whether this be a raised temperature or inflammation in an injured area. When this occurs, we are in effect saying that we know more than our body’s innate intelligence about what is good for it.

In order to maintain good health, therefore, it is important to recognize that many symptoms are actually evidence that healing is underway, and that, unless they are actually unbearable or dangerous, the symptoms should be left alone so that the repair processes can be completed.

The Return to Health

The vast majority of illnesses are self-limiting, meaning that they get better all on their own. Alternative medicine recognizes this fact, realizing that health will usually arise spontaneously when the conditions for health exist. Therefore, once you are ill, getting healthy again requires the very same inputs that were needed to keep you healthy in the first place.

This may seem obvious but it’s a message worth restating. As Dr. Chaitow says, “To regain health once it has been lost we need to begin to reverse some, and ideally all, of those processes which may be negatively impacting us, and over which we have some degree of control. This includes taking responsibility for stopping those lifestyle choices which we know are harmful, whether this be smoking, excessive alcohol intake, or using drugs. In addition, we need to start to positively address the real needs that such behavior masks.”

Depending on the nature of our health problems, this might involve starting to eat more nutritiously, sleeping and exercising in a more regular and balanced way, and making sure of receiving reasonable exposure to fresh air and sunlight. It may also include hygienic considerations, detoxifying and cleansing our bodies, addressing any structural or mechanical imbalances, as well as learning how to properly cope with stress, and deal with our mental and emotional needs.

“That sounds like a vast prescription,” Dr. Chaitow says. “However, even if only some of it can be addressed, such as diet and relaxation, a remarkable phenomenon occurs as homeostasis begins to function more efficiently and health begins to return.” Our bodies are not designed to become ill, they are designed to heal and become healthy.

The return to health is a road which each person must walk according to his or her own unique individuality. It is also a road that needs to address one’s entire being, taking into account one’s mental, emotional and physical aspects, as well as the structural, biochemical and energetic components that shape each of us. It is precisely because alternative medicine honors and understands these concepts that it is now positioned to become a valuable and necessary pathway for meeting the medical crisis we, as a planet, are currently facing.

Burton Goldberg is a nationally-known advocate of alternative medicine. His introduction to the field began through an attempt to help resolve the health crisis of a close friend. This incident sparked an 18 year quest which took him to clinics and conferences around the world; an endeavor which has culminated with the publication of Alternative Medicine: The Definitive Guide, a 4-year, two million dollar project that assembes the knowledge and experience of nearly 400 hundred leading physicians and scientists in the alternative medical community. This book is available at bookstores and health food stores everywhere.

The Difference Between Neem Oil And Snake Oil:

The claims made about neem hold up under scientific scrutiny. Neem oil works. The bark, leaves and oil of the neem tree have been used in India for several thousand years, and are still used today.

About 75% of Ayurvedic remedies contain some form of neem! Indians call the sacred neem tree “the village pharmacy,” and have limitless faith in its abilities. People value neem as a natural insect repellent and pesticide, they use it for skin care and skin disorders, and many also take neem leaves internally.

Neem oil is used on humans, on animals, and on plants, for a huge range of different problems and diseases. These are not just folk tales. Neem is the most heavily researched herbal remedy in India. Scientists have identified over 150 active substances in neem, and many of those proved to be as effective in laboratory studies as the folklore claimed they would be. Neem does most of what the salesman said, and more.

Beware The Modern Snake Oil Salesmen

Neem oil is hardly known in Australia or Europe, but in the US it has reached high fashion status. Neem products are marketed aggressively. The snake oil salesmen are still among us, though today they hawk their wares on the internet, not from a horse cart. Just like their ancient counterparts they like to exaggerate. They promise a lot and prove very little, and they tend to forget to mention the downsides.

Neem oil is potent stuff. Neem is a plant, but that does not automatically mean it is safe. Some of the world’s strongest toxins are herbal. Read about neem’s toxicity before you take it internally.

There are situations where neem home remedies are perfectly safe and effective, and there are diseases where you need a diagnosis, and the guidance of a medical practitioner. Neem can often beat the pharmceuticals in our arsenal, with none of the undesirable side effects. But neem is not a miracle cure. There are limits to what it can do.

Recognize the limits, and you will find that what’s left is still more than enough to make people insist, “It’s miraculous!” Beware the snake oil salesmen, but don’t throw out the baby with the bath water. Neem oil works.

Make your bedroom, your bed your sanctuary. Make it x comfortable peaceful oasis.

Have all the acouoterments that make it your own, a soft inviting environment. This is where you will restore your energy for the next day.

There is nothing as important as a good night’s sleep, everything that comes after waking up from sleep or lack of it, colors everything we do, feel and think. Everything is so much better, and with clarity when we are well rested.

If you aren’t sleeping a good ream sleep, a restorative and healing sleep. Stop! Find out why. If it is short lived stress of a particular sort, do of course, work it out, a no brainier.

The moment during the day when we very first open our eyes and come into consciousness is a precious opportunity. It sets the tone for all that comes after it, like the opening scene in a film or novel. At this moment, our ability to create the day is at its most powerful, and we can offer ourselves fully to the creative process by filling this moment with whatever inspires us most. It may be that we want to be more generous, or it may be that we want to be more open to beauty in our daily lives. Whatever the case, if we bring this vision into our minds at this very fertile moment, we empower it to be the guiding principle of our day.

Sometimes we wake up with a mood already seemingly in place, and it’s important to give this feeling its due. It can inform us and deepen our awareness to what’s going on inside us, as well as around us. As long as we are conscious, we can honor this feeling and also introduce our new affirmation or vision, our conscious offering to the day. We may want to decide before we go to sleep what we want to bring to the next day of our lives. It could be that we simply want to be more open to whatever comes our way. Or we may want to summon a particular quality such as confidence. Then again, we may simply call up a feeling that perfectly captures the texture we want our day to have.

We can reaffirm our vision or affirmation as we shower and eat breakfast, as well as recalling it at various times throughout the day. We can write it down and carry it with us on a little slip of paper if this helps. Simply by being aware of those first moments, we set the stage for a more conscious, enlivened experience, and we become active participants in the creation of our lives.

Enlightenment means literally aligning to the Energy of my Source. And genius is only about focusing. Attraction takes care of everything else. Physical humans often want to make enlightenment about finding some process and moving through the process that has been pre-described. But true enlightenment is moving to the rhythm of the internal inspiration that is coming in response to the individual desire. Enlightenment is about allowing my Connection to the Source that is me for the fulfillment of the things that I have individually defined here in my time-space-reality. That’s as good as it gets! —

<fieldset>We are all Vibrational Beings. You’re like a receiving mechanism that when you set your tuner to the station, you’re going to hear what’s playing. Whatever you are focused upon is the way you set your tuner, and when you focus there for as little as 17 seconds, you activate that vibration within you. Once you activate a vibration within you, Attraction begins responding to that vibration, and you’re off and running–whether it’s something wanted or unwanted —</fieldset>

<fieldset>Think of this random Universe where everything is possible. The organizational skills belong to Attraction. If you will relax and allow Attraction to do the organization, the managing, then you can spend your time doing the things that please you. —</fieldset>

<fieldset>Attraction says, “That which is like unto itself is drawn.” Vibrations are always matched. So, as you experience the contrast which inspires the new desire, this new desire, whether it is a strong one or a soft one, is summoning unto itself proportionately. And as it summons, it is always answered. It is the basis of our Universe: When it is asked, it is always given. Humans think they are asking with their words, or even with their action, and sometimes you are, but the Universe is not responding to your words or your action. The Universe is responding to your vibrational calling. —</fieldset>

<fieldset>Within the seed of your desire is everything necessary for it to blossom to fulfillment. And Attraction is the engine that does the work. Your work is just to give it a fertile growing place in order to expand —</fieldset>

<fieldset>Everything is valid and everything is truthful, because Attraction lets everything be. The question is not whether it’s right or wrong, whether their approach is right or wrong, or whether my approach is right or wrong. The question is: Does their approach feel good to me? And if it doesn’t, then I choose a different approach. —</fieldset>

<fieldset>Attraction abounds, and when it is said to you, “Ask, and it is given,” there is no more powerful statement that is at the basis of what makes things happen than that. Now, how is it that you think you ask? With your words? The Universe doesn’t hear your words. You ask with your desire. The desire that is born out of the contrast. That desire. That wanting. That’s what summons the Life Force. —</fieldset>

<fieldset>When you begin to understand Attraction, and you understand that which is like unto itself is drawn, then it is easier and easier to understand that you are offering a signal, and the entire Universe responds. And when you finally get that, and you begin to exercise some deliberate control about the signal that you offer, then it really begins to be fun, because then you recognize that nothing happens outside of your creative control. There are no things that happen by chance or by circumstance. There is nothing that is happening because of something you vibrated a long time ago or in a past life. It is not about what you were born into. It is only about what you are, right now, in this red hot fresh moment emitting. —</fieldset>

<fieldset>Within the seed of your desire is everything

<fieldset>Attraction says, “That which is like unto itself is drawn.” Which means vibrations are always matched. So as you experience the contrast which inspires the new idea within you, this new idea –this desire – whether it is a strong one or a soft one, is summoning unto itself proportionately. And as it summons, it is always answered. It is the basis of our Universe: When it is asked, it is always given. The confusion that humans feel is that they think they are asking with their words — or even with their action — and sometimes you are. But the Universe is not responding to your words or your action. The Universe is responding to your vibrational calling. —</fieldset>

necessary for it to blossom to fulfillment. And Attraction is the engine that does the work. Your work is just to give it a fertile growing place in order to expand. —</fieldset>

<fieldset>What we would do for yourself — for your next physical experience (and you can do this). . . We would begin, right now, by infusing this physical time/space reality with as much understanding Attraction as you can, so that you add to this vortex of knowing. That makes it more likely that — as you and others participate within it — you will have easy access to this understanding that all is well. —</fieldset>

<fieldset>Is it possible to be the visionary and the actionary of your own life? Not only possible, it’s the way most of you intended it to be. It’s the best of all worlds. What can be more exhilarating than to find a dream from the contrast, to fixate on the dream and let it give you pleasure as it grows, and then to watch Attraction bring it into manifestation while you help with your action? Does it get any better than that? You didn’t think so as you made the decision to come forth into these physical bodies. You said, “This is the best time in all eternity for a Creator to Create.”</fieldset>

<fieldset>You have more harmony points with every person on the planet than you have disharmony points, because there is much more of you that is in harmony with your Core than you realize or that most of you allow. The closer you come to being in harmony with your Source Energy, the more in harmony you are with each other. When you think about other people and what they think of you, do you understand that what they think of you has very little to do with what you are? It has mostly to do with the habits of thought that they have developed. It has more to do with them as thinkers than it does with you as the subject of their thought. If nothing is more important to you than that you feel good, you can form a fantasy about someone who is in your life and they will begin to modify to meet your fantasy, because Attraction is a very powerful thing.</fieldset>

<fieldset>As you perceive something, you give birth to a thought, and this thought now thinks. Now that it exists, now that it has been conjured, now that it has been focused, now it vibrates. Now, by Attraction, other thoughts that are vibrationally same will come to it. So it begins its expansion immediately.</fieldset>

<fieldset>It’s not your work to make anything happen. It’s your work to dream it and let it happen. Attraction will make it happen. In your joy, you create something, and then you maintain your vibrational harmony with it, and the Universe must find a way to bring it about. That’s the promise of Attraction.</fieldset>

<fieldset>Genius. It is just attention to something specific. That’s all it is. Attraction makes it happen, and so anyone who gives attention to any subject for a period of time will evolve in the direction of that understanding.</fieldset>

<fieldset>Attraction is Universal, and every person is affected by it. And it is always true that what I think and what I feel and what I get are always a match, and there is not a person on the planet that did not know that when they were born, and there is not a person on the planet that would not benefit by knowing it. But many, many, many are not yet asking and therefore are not yet ready for the answer. And so, we would say that — although everyone wants this information — everyone is not necessarily ready for it. We would not spend any time trying to convince anybody of anything because if they’re not asking, your answers are just irritating. —</fieldset>

<fieldset>Use whatever excuse you can to vibrate in harmony with those things you’ve been saying you want. And when you do, those things that are a vibrational equivalent flow into your experience in abundance. Not because you deserve it, not because you’ve earned it, but because it’s the natural consequence of the Law of Attraction. That which is like unto itself is drawn. — Abraham
Excerpted from the workshop in Silver Spring, MD on Saturday, April 19th, 1997 </fieldset>

<fieldset>If you’ve got somebody’s aspects in your experience that you don’t like, there’s only one reason they’re there. You keep evoking them with your attention to them. Without knowing about Attraction, you have — through your old habit of observation — achieved vibrational harmony with the parts of them that you do not like, and you keep summoning those parts from them by your constant vibrational offering of them. —</fieldset>

<fieldset>As you identify the thing that you want and you achieve vibrational harmony with it, by Attraction you summon the Energy through you, and that is what life is. When someone stops desiring, Life Force no longer flows through them, and then they re-emerge into the Nonphysical where you have all kinds of goals and intentions.</fieldset>

<fieldset>Your prayer causes you to focus, and the Attraction causes everything in the Universe that’s in vibrational harmony with your focus to come to you.</fieldset>

<fieldset>There has never been an injustice anywhere in this physical time/space reality or anywhere else. Attraction does not promote injustice. Attraction amplifies the vibration that is within you. —</fieldset>

<fieldset>The thought that you think, you think, which attracts to it; so you think it some more, which attracts to it; so you think it some more. In other words, when you have an expectation, you’ve got a dominant thought going on, and Attraction is going to deliver that to you again, and again and again. And you say “The reason that I believe this, is because it is true.” And we say, the reason that you believe it, is because you’ve practiced the thought. All that a belief is, is a thought that you keep practicing. —</fieldset>

<fieldset>Just love everybody that interacts with you no matter how personally, or how peripherally, involved with you they are. The efficiency of the people who deal with you… everything is orchestrated by the manager called Attraction. And your vibration is setting all of it into motion. Everything affecting you is a reflection of the vibration that you are emitting. Spend more time focused upon your dream than upon the reality. The reality gives birth to the dream — but the dream is where you are wanting to put your attention.</fieldset>

A good night’s sleep is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. Unfortunately, too many of us don’t get the sleep we need. Sleeping is an incredibly dramatic and important event. In fact, I believe quality sleep is absolutely essential for optimal health.

When you sleep, your brain discharges like a capacitor, getting ready for the next day’s onslaught of stimuli. In order for it to function each day, it must discharge each night. If you are deprived of prolonged sleep for several days, you can suffer degrees of irreversible brain damage—not to mention the variety of other negative effects it can have on your overall health and well-being.

In this report I will show you how sleeplessness can affect your health and outline the underlying circumstances that can interfere with sleep. Most important I will tell you about solutions you can use to restore your sleep patterns—naturally.

Lack of Sleep Affects Your Health

Before Thomas Edison invented the light bulb in 1913, the average American devoted nine hours a night to sleeping. Today, we average seven and a half hours, and many get significantly less than that. Now that electricity lights up our nights and we’re free to ignore the rhythms of nature, many of us do so—at great cost to our physical and mental well-being.

Poor sleep often equates to poor health. One reason your health suffers when you shortchange yourself on sleep is that the sleep process plays a vital role in your immune system’s ability to fight illness. While you are sleeping, your immune system shifts into high gear. Specialized immune cells become more active, rallying lymphocytes to filter microbes from the blood, and stimulating other infection-fighting forces. Levels of natural killer cells—the “pit bulls” of the immune system—undergo a significant drop after only 24 hours of sleep deprivation, and weakened immunity can be seen after only five hours of sleep loss. This is why you’re more likely to become ill when you don’t sleep well and why one of the best remedies for most any type of illness is bed rest.

If your immune system doesn’t do well on little sleep, your brain does even worse. The effects of an occasional late night or early awakening probably won’t be noticeable—your brain is quite resilient. Get good sleep the next night and you’ll feel like yourself again. But, as I mentioned earlier, the effects of sleep deprivation are cumulative. If you’re consistently getting an hour less sleep than you require, by the end of the week you will have lost the equivalent of one night of sleep. This is when sleep deprivation begins to take its toll.

Studies have consistently found that as sleep “debt” increases, mental processes slow down, reaction time lengthens, and it becomes more difficult to focus attention. Sleep deprivation can actually affect reaction time and judgment to a degree similar to drinking alcohol. Memory—especially short-term memory—is impaired, and mental tasks that require remembering several pieces of information at a time become increasingly difficult. Motivation decreases and creativity is dampened, as sleep deprivation tends to put us on autopilot

For many people, the inability to sleep doesn’t seem to be caused by anything. However, there are a number of factors that can contribute to the problem.

Medications Can Interfere With Sleep

Many prescription and over-the-counter medications, including some pain medications, drugs for attention deficit disorder, weight loss pills, amphetamines, and nasal decongestants contain stimulants that can keep you awake, especially when taken too close to bedtime. Diuretics, commonly used to treat hypertension and heart failure, disturb sleep because they cause frequent urination, and antidepressants count sleeplessness among their many side effects. If you’re taking these or any other medication, check with your doctor or pharmacist to see if they may be the root of your problem. Sometimes a simple change in dosing time is enough to let you get back to sleep.

Underlying Medical Conditions Can Also Cause Sleep Disturbances

Various medical conditions may also disturb your slumber. Restless leg syndrome, characterized by unpleasant sensations in the legs, makes it hard to fall asleep. Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) causes nighttime awakenings for trips to the bathroom. For women in menopause, hot flashes can ruin sleep. Depression and anxiety can also leave you tossing and turning at night. The good news is that all of these conditions can be addressed and, once they are, you can often say goodbye to sleep problems.

CPAP for Sleep Apnea

The current gold standard in the treatment of sleep apnea is continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). This requires wearing a nasal mask or seal attached to a blower that gently forces pressurized air through the nose and prevents the throat from collapsing. CPAP is very effective in reducing sleep apnea. While some patients are unable to tolerate it, due to feelings of claustrophobia, nasal or facial irritation, and other side effects, it works wonders for most.

I was a champion snorer for years. My wife Connie finally got so worried about my apnea that she convinced me to visit a sleep specialist. During the sleep test, I had 69 episodes of apnea in one hour! The results prompted me to begin CPAP therapy, and now I sleep like a baby all night long. I fall asleep quickly, and drift into and out of all the stages of sleep, until I awake refreshed in the morning. I even bring my CPAP machine with me when I travel.

At the clinic, we screen patients whom we suspect may have sleep apnea, or conditions resulting from it, with an inexpensive test called nocturnal pulse oximetry, which records pulse and blood oxygen levels periodically during the night via a small, clip-on sensor. If it is suggestive of sleep apnea, an automatic CPAP machine or a specialist for a sleep study.

The most serious sleep-related medical condition, and one I am intimately familiar with, is sleep apnea. If you snore, chances are you are one of the 18 million Americans who have this problem. Befitting its name (apnea comes from the Greek word meaning “without breath”), obstructive sleep apnea occurs when the fleshy tissues at the back of the throat relax and block the airway, causing you to stop breathing. The brain, sensing oxygen deprivation, sends signals that wake you enough to take a breath.

This not only makes getting a good night’s sleep impossible, but also leads to a number of very serious problems. Sleep apnea triples your risk of hypertension, more than doubles your risk of stroke, and quadruples your risk of arrhythmia. It also interferes with insulin sensitivity and quintuples your risk of diabetes.

Fortunately, sleep apnea and snoring are treatable. Often, they can be treated with lifestyle measures, and the most effective of these is weight loss. Other lifestyle changes that may help include quitting smoking and avoiding alcohol before bedtime, as both are associated with snoring and sleep apnea. Simply changing your sleeping position works for some. Sleeping on your side rather than your back discourages the soft tissues of the airways from collapsing. One way to “remind” yourself to turn onto your side is to sew a tennis ball onto the back of your pajamas. Custom-designed cervical pillows that extend and lift the neck may also help.

In addition, consider a trial of one or more of the safe, natural over-the-counter remedies for snoring. Though these products do not claim to treat apnea, they sometimes provide effective relief. Two I recommend are SnoreStop, a homeopathic remedy that reduces swelling in nasal and throat tissues, and Breathe Right, nasal strips applied over the bridge of the nose that dilate the nasal passages and reduce nasal airway resistance. Both of these products are available in drug stores and supermarkets. Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is another very effective treatment for sleep apnea. (For more about CPAP, see the box on the right.)

Now that you’re familiar with the underlying conditions that may rob you of a good night’s sleep, let’s take a look at how your surroundings and pre-bedtime ritual can affect the quality of your slumber. In medical circles this is often referred to as “sleep hygiene.”

First, you shouldn’t use your bed for anything except sleep and sex. If you spend significant time watching TV, reading, or just loitering in bed, your body won’t take the cue that “bed equals sleep.”

The next thing to consider is light in your bedroom. Light exposure during the night disrupts melatonin production and interferes with sleep. Melatonin is a hormone produced by the pineal gland, a tiny structure embedded in the center of the brain that responds to light entering the eyes. Melatonin regulates the circadian rhythms of sleeping and waking, and it also influences daily fluctuations in your body temperature, sense of hunger, energy, and mood.

Research suggests that you don’t even have to see the light to be affected by it. This bodes poorly for people who fall asleep with the TV or lights on. A low-watt night-light in an adjacent bathroom is acceptable, but when you are ready to go to sleep all other lights (and the TV) should be off and the shades should be drawn. Also, keep in mind that if light entering your room from the outside is a problem, you may need to change rooms in the house or invest in room-darkening shades or drapes. Another option, which I have found to be helpful, is to use a sleep mask.

Third is your pre-bedtime ritual. Almost anything you do in the couple hours before bedtime can affect your ability to go to sleep. If you have a habit of going for a brisk walk late in the evening, your body may be so revved up that it takes hours to calm back down and become ready for sleep—so be sure to get your exercise earlier in the day.

Eating and drinking can also affect your ability to sleep. If you eat right before bed, your stomach is still working hard to digest that meal when you are trying to nod off. Avoid eating 2-3 hours prior to bedtime. Caffeine also affects people differently. If you are sensitive, avoid caffeinated beverages after noon. Drinking a big glass of water right before bed can lead to visits to the bathroom in the middle of the night. And finally, alcohol can interfere with sleep—one drink may calm and relax you, any more may do just the opposite. And the closer to bedtime, the greater the effect.

nfortunately, sound sleep doesn’t come as easily for many people as they get older. One reason is that the amount of time spent in the deepest, most restful stage of sleep declines with age. In fact, after the age of 60, deep sleep may disappear. In other words, you’re more easily awakened, and your sleep is more likely to be interrupted.

Another reason older adults have more difficulty sleeping is because levels of the hormone melatonin also decline with age. Melatonin regulates our body clock and is well known for its role in sleep. Most people under the age of 40 produce enough melatonin naturally. However, for older adults, research suggests that supplemental melatonin helps improve sleep efficiency—a measure of the actual amount of sleep enjoyed between the time of going to bed and waking the next day. In fact, melatonin has long been one of my top recommendations for sleep. The suggested dose is 1-3 mg of melatonin, 30 minutes to an hour before bedtime, preferably on an empty stomach.

While it appears to be safe and well tolerated in most people, melatonin is not recommended for people under age 40 since their bodies produce enough naturally, or for anyone who is pregnant or nursing, taking prescription steroids, or suffering from mental illness, severe allergies, autoimmune disorders, lymphoma or leukemia.

There are natural supplements and herbs that assist in a good night’s sleep along with good sleep habits that do not interfer with the body’s natural rhythms…Get a good night’s sleep….

The power of healing is within the scope of us all is is us. It is as natural as a sunset and sunrise. When something has not gone into pathology so badly that our bodies simply tired out and broke down, we have the capacity to not only heal ourselves, and to help others with their healing and to maintain it.

Energy is innate in all things, life is energy, it is basically all there is, from core, throughout, moving at the vibrancy and rate of what it is. We, as conscious beings, have the ability to change our consciousness, therefore our energy, what we are out-picturing and receiving.

Most enlightened men throughout the centuries have made statements like….There is a state of being which contains all creation and out of which all life arose, the energy of this state of being lives in all things. A superior intelligent force does exist which is continually creating the universe out of itself. This energy is immeasurable as it has manifested in all forms of life shape and structure. It brings forth all life in the universe and nourishes it.
Reiki is also based on similar understanding and perception.Reiki is the Japanese word, defined as being that power or force or energy, which acts and lives in all created matter. The word Reiki can be broken into two component parts, the syllable “Rei” describing the universal, transcendental spirit, mysterious power and essence, and “Ki” the vital force energy that flows through all living beings. Thus Reiki is the word for Universal life force energy.

We also say that Reiki is the greatest vibration of life energy available to human being. This vibration has a divine quality and for this reason does not exclude anything. It allows us to make contact with the impulses alive in the world, thus conveying “oneness”.

It is the “path of healing love.” It is given from the heart and is often experienced as the receiving of unconditional love. This love has the power to bring us back to a state of peace and harmony. It is a unique healing art which stimulates your own development and brings equilibrium at all levels of existence.

Reiki helps dissolve tension at the physical, mental and emotional plane. Release in tension permits rapid removal of toxins and blockages enhancing a normal flow of life energy in all areas. Once the organism is thoroughly detoxified it has more scope to receive, store and use more life energy. Reiki triggers an intensive process of purification, stimulates the body to heal, resulting in a process of rejuvenation and relaxation. Though all people must experience this their own unique way.

Your first act of life is to take a breath.

Within the breath is the secret of life. Breath is linked to the vital life energy in us or prana. Understand the breath and the Life Energy or Prana. We gain prana through air, fresh foods and rest – (and also through meditation.) Lack of prana results in lethargy, dullness and poor enthusiasm. When we’re fully charged, we feel alert, energetic, on-top-of-the world. Prana is the very basis of health and well-being for both mind and body.
